LIMITED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
I support and love our Constitution. While many are aware of the separation of powers, it seems that Washington DC has forgotten (or is willfully ignorant) that the Constitution provides enumerated powers only. The Constitution was never intended to be interpreted as expansively as it has. States must push back against this constant overreach by the Federal Government. This is particularly true with regard to federally controlled lands in Utah. I will work to gain access and use of these lands to benefit Utah and our economy through common sense measures.
In 2022, as a private attorney, I represented the parties suing the Biden Administration over the egregious seizing of over 1 million acres in Bears Ears and Escalante. This case is currently pending before the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and will likely go to the Supreme Court.
While others talk about limiting the federal government, I do it. I’ve created processes to help us take advantage of the Recreation and Public Purposes Act, which allows for the transfer of up to 25,500 acres per year of federal lands to our state.
Simply put, a state without control of its lands is a state with compromised sovereignty. We must demand our state sovereignty.
