ETHICS & HONESTY IN POLITICS

The political pecking order is simple.  Legislators work for their constituents, not the other way around.  There are many in our legislature who will tell you that “you cannot legislate ethics.”  While I agree this is a difficult issue, I feel we must do more to increase the public trust in the legislative process. If elected, I commit that I will hold myself to the highest ethical standard.  I will go above and beyond the letter of the law and I will always remember the sacred trust voters place in those they elect to represent them.  I will represent YOU and YOUR interests!

In my professional life, I have been involved in drafting, interpreting and enforcing ethical standards for governments. Further, I have served as an ethics professor at BYU in the Master of Public Administration program. I am well versed in the issues and practical realities that arise in public service. My experience will be an asset to our state.

As a legislator, I have introduced bills to increase transparency and ethics as it relates to lobbying and ethics. See Lobbyist Disclosure and Regulation Act.
